چکیده
ABSTRACT: The scleral ossicle rings function has been related to mechanical protection, muscle fixation, support for eyeball shape and visual accommodation. There are few morphobiometric reports on these in different Testudines species, we performed ultrasound (US) computed tomography (CT) of the one green turtle (Chelonia mydas), black-bellied slider (Trachemys dorbigni) red-footed tortoise (Chelonoidis carbonarius). US CT were anatomical identification. thickness, density, width, diameters each ring measured. three animals showed single continuous circular structures, located anterior pole. These structures easily observed C. mydas, whose biggest, thickest widest. T. dorbigni presented decreased dimensions ossicles most difficult identify. Bone density superior region was greater than inferior all animals. Non-invasive imaging exams good tools study anatomy ocular skeleton. specimens general morphological similarities enabled visualizing a number details bone morphology.

Correlation Between Tissue Densities in Computed Tomography and Three Different Cone-Beam Computed Tomography Units (In Vitro)
Background and Aim: Bone density is of great assistance in the selection of the proper implant site. The present study aimed to assess the correlation between tissue densities in computed tomography (CT) and three different cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) units. Materials and Methods: In this descriptive study, a radiographic phantom consisting of a transparent polymethyl methacrylate (PM...
متن کاملThree-dimensional morphometric ontogeny of mollusc shells by micro-computed tomography and geometric analysis
As one of the essential components of the fossil record, shells of molluscs provide crucial data for taxonomic, phylogenetic or evolutionary studies. The mollusc shell has often very few discrete morphological characters, and its most important character is its three-dimensional (3-D) geometry, which is well diversified, continuous and highly integrated. However, standard morphometric methods r...
متن کاملTwo – three loci control scleral ossicle formation via epistasis in the cavefish Astyanax mexicanus
The sclera is the protective outer layer of the eye. In fishes, birds, and reptiles, the sclera may be reinforced with additional bony elements called scleral ossicles. Teleost fish vary in the number and size of scleral ossicles; however, the genetic mechanisms responsible for this variation remain poorly understood. In this study, we examine the inheritance of scleral ossicles in the Mexican ...
متن کاملThree-dimensional reconstruction of New Zealand rabbit antebrachium by multidetector computed tomography
The aim of this study was to reveal biometric peculiarities of New Zealand white rabbit antebrachium (radius and ulna) by means of three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) images. Under general anesthesia, the antebrachiums of a total of sixteen rabbits of both sexes were scanned with a general diagnostic MDCT. Biometric measurements of the reconstructed...
متن کاملRib Abnormalities Investigated by Computed Tomography: A Report on Common and Uncommon Cases
Purpose: Rib anomalies include numerical and structural categories. This study investigates the costal abnormalities by computed tomography scan in an Iranian population. Methods: In a retrospective study, 400 Chest CT scans (225 (56.2%) male, and 175 (43.8%) female) aging from 18 to 89 were investigated for one year (2020 to 2021). Images were carefully observed and various abnormalities suc...
